Dinesh C. Verma
concentrates his practice in commercial litigation and immigration matters
in the firm's Maryland office, where he can be reached at (240) 456-0000 or

Prior to the firm’s establishment in 2000, Mr. Verma served as law clerk to the
Hon. Laura D. Millman of the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, and worked for
a Washington, DC firm where he handled complex commercial, airline, and
banking cases.
Mr. Verma’s representative experience includes:
- Representing companies and individuals in business litigation
involving breach of contract, misappropriation of trade secrets,
covenants not to compete, and business torts.
- Representing commercial landlords with diverse portfolios in landlord-tenant matters, commercial leasing matters, and business litigation matters.
- Representing companies and individuals in prosecuting and defending
intellectual property litigation with an emphasis on trademark matters.
- Representing companies and individuals on business-related
immigration matters including architects, engineers, technology workers,
airline employees, researchers, and scientists, as well as intra-company
transfers of executives and managers.
- Representing small businesses and individuals before the U.S. Small
Business Administration in connection with matters involving 8(a)
certification.
- Representing government contractors in bid protests and contract
disputes at the local, state and federal level.
- Representing general contractors, subcontractors, owners, and
individuals in connection with construction claims and disputes.
Recent practice highlights:
- Obtained injunction and secured monetary damages on behalf of well
known Montgomery County, Maryland non-profit against a splinter-group of
members who misappropriated the company’s name, likeness, and goodwill.
- Recovered over $2 million on behalf of German relatives of Maryland
decedents in civil action to contest inter-vivos transfer of
multi-million dollar trusts to an interested financial advisor from a
well-known Wall Street investment firm.
- Managed litigation in Louisiana and Maryland related to the rescue
and protection of two dogs in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in
cases that obtained national attention. Mr. Verma’s efforts resulted in
successfully defending rescuers accused of wrongful conduct in
Louisiana, obtaining thousands of dollars in damages for a defamation
action in Maryland, and ensuring protection and well-being of the dogs
and rescuers.
- Defended employee in case by former employer seeking to enjoin
employee from joining another employer.
- Pursued company abusing H-1B regulations and H-1B workers by
oppressive tactics.
- Obtained injunction against company in U.S. District Court for
Maryland for trademark infringement, and successfully collected damages
from infringing party.
- Successfully obtained dismissal of trademark infringement action
against a Maryland-based client in the U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York.
Pro Bono/Other:
- Previous experience in high profile pro bono litigation in a case
involving child abduction under the International Convention on Child
Abduction, which led to a reported decision, Janakakis v.
Janakakis-Kostun, 6 S.W.3d 843 (Ky. App. 1999).
- Routine involvement with local Washington-DC area non-profits,
charities and individuals on pro-bono matters.
- Regularly appears on local television program in Washington, D.C.
that features topics of interest in business, law, politics and culture
to the Indian-American community.
